Latest ESPON Call attracted 25 proposals and 144 partners from 30 countries
The Calls for Proposals closed on 28 June 2010 and generated 25 project proposals involving 30 European countries and 144 partners. All the project themes in the Calls received proposals.
The distribution by the Priorities of the ESPON Programme was as follow: 7 proposals for Applied Research Projects under Priority 1, 15 for Targeted Analyses under Priority 2 and 3 for Transnational Networking Activities under Priority 4.
Of the applicants, 11%came from Italy, 10% Spain, 9% from Germany and the UK, 6% from France, 5% from Slovenia and Portugal, 4% from Hungary, Netherlands and Sweden. Applicants came from all countries involved in the ESPON 2013 Programme, except Liechtenstein.
The participation rate of Private Institutions in ESPON projects has in these Calls reached 13%. As the analysis of the legal status of applicants shows, the participation rate of Public Institutions is 68% and for Institutions governed by public law 19%.
24-11-2010 The results of the evaluation of the 25 project was tabled for the Monitoring Committee meeting in September and the results were announced in October 2010.
Following the Monitoring Committee decision on the best proposals, 1 applicant submitted an appeal. The ESPON 2013 Programme gives this possibility in accordance with the Programme Manual, chapter 8.12.The decision of the Monitoring Committee following this request and the relevant follow-up is available below.
Announcement
New Calls for Proposals
New Calls for Proposals are open. The deadline for submitting proposals is 28 June 2010. The total available budget is 5.900.000 Euro and more than 10 proposals can be selected.
The calls are the following:
1) Call for Proposals for 2 themes of Applied Research (Priority 1 of the ESPON 2013 Programme),
2) Call for Proposals for 8 Targeted Analyses (Priority 2),
3) Call for Proposals for Transnational Networking Activities of the ESPON Contact Point Network (Priority 4).
Participation of private partners is possible in the Calls for Proposals on Applied Research Projects and Call for Proposals on Targeted Analyses. Only institutions confirmed as ESPON Contact Points can submit and be included in proposals on Transnational Networking Activities.
Info Day and Partner Café
The ESPON 2013 Programme invites potential beneficiaries to the Info Day on New Calls and Partner Café on 18 May 2010 in Brussels. It will be the chance to get information on the new funding opportunities and to meet potential project partners. Deadline for registration is 6 May 2010 at 15h00.
ESPON Partner Café
Research institutes that are looking for partners to prepare a proposal for one of the projects under the Calls are remembered to have a look at the overview of potential partners. The fields of expertise that are indicated in the overview provide you with a good impression of which institutes might be interested in the same research theme as you and might wish to join you in a Transnational Project Group.
