Call for Proposals and Expression of Interests (24/01 - 21/03/2011)
Latest ESPON Call attracted 53 applications from 29 countries and 285 potential project partners / stakeholders
In the 8th ESPON Call, 53 applications were submitted in total. The distribution by the three Priorities was as follows: 23 proposals in Priority 1, 29 in Priority 2, 1 in Priority 3.
The distribution by the four themes under Priority 1 was as follows: 6 proposals in “European Regions: Potential Contribution to the EU 2020 Strategy”, 5 in “Territorial Scenarios and Visions for Europe, 5 in “Territorial Potentials for a Greener Economy, 7 in “Territorial Governance – Best Practices for New Perspectives”.
The 29 Expressions of Interest for Targeted Analyses under Priority 2 are distributed on the 3 types of action as follows: 19 applications for action 1 (integrated studies and thematic analyses), 8 for action 2 (knowledge support to innovative and experimental actions), 2 for action 3 (joint actions related to other Structural Funds Programmes).
The 53 applications were from Lead Partners and Stakeholders based in 16 countries (Spain, Romania, Italy, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Bulgaria, Denmark, Austria, Cyprus, Germany, France, Ireland, Netherlands, and Norway).
Among 285 potential project partners / stakeholders, 102 are public bodies, 132 are public authorities at national/regional/local, 31 are private bodies.
Of the applicants, 15% came from Italy, 11% from Spain, 10% from Romania, 7% from Germany, 6% from Poland, 5% from Sweden and United Kingdom, 4% France, Greece, Hungary and Netherlands, 3% Czech Republic and Slovenia, 2% Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, Norway and Portugal. The applicants were from 29 countries.
Evaluation of the applications will run during April - May and the results will be tabled for the ESPON Monitoring Committee on June 2011.

24-01-2011 Call for Proposals and Expression of Interests is now open.
The Call includes the following:
1. Proposals on Applied Research projects, Priority 1 of the ESPON Programme
2. Expression of Interests by stakeholders for Targeted Analyses, Priority 2
3. Proposals within the ESPON Scientific Platform, Priority 3
The total available budget amounts to up to 5.493.000,00 Euro.
The deadline for submitting proposals and expressing interests is 21 March 2011.
Potential beneficiaries
Public and private body can apply for the Call for Proposals on Applied Research Projects and the Call for Proposals within the ESPON Scientific Platform.
Only public authorities are considered as stakeholders in the Call for Expression of Interests.
